Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1 3/4 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 large egg whites
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Buttercream or ganache for filling

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, sift together almond flour and powdered sugar, making sure there are no lumps.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk the egg whites until they form soft peaks.
  • Gradually add granulated sugar while continuing to whisk until stiff peaks form.
  • Gently fold the sifted almond flour and powdered sugar into the meringue.
  • If using, add food coloring and mix gently until combined.
  • Transfer the mixture to a piping bag fitted with a round tip.
  • Pipe small circles onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between each.
  • Let the piped macarons sit at room temperature for 30-60 minutes until they form a skin.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until set. Let cool completely.
  • Pair two macaron shells with your favorite buttercream or ganache filling to create a sandwich.

Notes

For best results, let assembled macarons rest in the fridge for 24 hours before serving. This allows the flavors to meld beautifully!
