1/2
tsp
vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
Food coloring (optional)
Buttercream or ganache for filling
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
In a bowl, sift together almond flour and powdered sugar, making sure there are no lumps.
In a separate bowl, whisk the egg whites until they form soft peaks.
Gradually add granulated sugar while continuing to whisk until stiff peaks form.
Gently fold the sifted almond flour and powdered sugar into the meringue.
If using, add food coloring and mix gently until combined.
Transfer the mixture to a piping bag fitted with a round tip.
Pipe small circles onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between each.
Let the piped macarons sit at room temperature for 30-60 minutes until they form a skin.
Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until set. Let cool completely.
Pair two macaron shells with your favorite buttercream or ganache filling to create a sandwich.
Notes
For best results, let assembled macarons rest in the fridge for 24 hours before serving. This allows the flavors to meld beautifully!
